In a part of this speech, Dr. Montazeri says: A study conducted by the National Academy of Medicine – which is a very good study with significant samples – states that only ten to twenty percent of one’s health is affected by medical determinants and care, and between eighty and ninety percent of health outcomes is related to non-medical and non-health system factors…

This study also states that the observed inequality in health – between or within nations – has its main root in the unjust distribution of wealth, power, goods, and services – both globally and nationally…

… this situation in population health which is a consequence of Social Determinants of Health; is the product of a toxic mixture that factors such as “inadequate social programs” meaning social policies adopted in a country or a region, “unfair and unequal economic relations”, “misguided or undesirable politics”, “inefficient and unjust structures”, such as educational, economy, juridical, and even family structures, and “people’s living conditions” are the components of this toxic mixture.
