Dr. Takian explains: … Health is the main indicator for societies’ well-being; that is why, in the resolution that world leaders published around eight years ago; they said, “Health is the only component of social policy which is a precondition, outcome, and indicator for a sustainable society all at once” and a sustainable society is a society in which people can reach their potential and in which, the issue of intergenerational equity is an accepted principle; It means that if in the year 1400 I am responsible for agricultural products; I shouldn’t act in a way that in the year 1420 my children and grandchildren wont be left with any water for their crops; Or if I work now to access energy sources, or to improve transportation and rail network, or to increase aerial transportation, I should not cause forest destruction so that people will suffocate in cities for the lack of clean air; Or if I now utilize personal vehicles as an incentive for my policies I mustn’t let 4,500 people die every year from air pollution in Tehran alone. So a sustainable society has both inter-generational and inter-political Equity…
