The two-day “Health Equity Assessment Toolkit” International workshop was held by Health Equity Research Center (HERC) affiliated with the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, June 22-23, 2021

According to reports from the SDH Research Network’s public relation, the Health Equity Assessment Toolkit workshop held by the Health Equity Research Center (HERC) affiliated with the Tehran university of Medical Sciences (TUMS) in cooperation with the WHO’s office in Tehran, Iran and the office in Geneva, Switzerland; the Secretariat of the SDH Research Network; TUMS’s Medical History and Ethics Research Center; and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education’s (MoHME) Office of International Affairs was held during Wends day 22nd and Tues day 23rd of June in English and virtually.

The second and final day of the Health Equity Assessment Toolkit workshop was attended by 45 members of SDH research centers across the country, representatives of MoHME and WHO’s office in Iran, and representatives of more than 30 medical universities. The main exercise of the second day consisted of group works and activities facilitated by WHO’s instructors with the aim to teach participants how to use HEAT and HEAT plus’s data and features. After the group works were done, the workshop continued by each team leader discussing their findings and a survey, and the workshop came to an end with a short ceremony at 17.00pm on Wends day. It should be noted that the workshop was instructed by Dr. Ahmadreza Hosseinpoor and five of his colleagues from WHO’s office in Geneva, Switzerland, and moderated by Dr. Alireza Olyaeemanesh, HERC’s director, and Dr. Amirhossein Takian, HERC’s deputy of research. At the end an international certificate from WHO, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and the Secretariat of SDH Research Network was awarded to eligible participants.

The Health Equity Research Center (HERC) affiliated withe the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), as the Secretariat of SDH Research Network is the only center of its kind focusing on equity challenges in health which was established in 2017 and during this time has over 200 papers in credible international journals, 7 books, tens of workshops, national and international meetings, a number of national and global grants on subjects such as equity and efficiency in health system in its record.
