Health Equity Research Center’s Active participation at the 44th International Hospital Federation Congress Barcelona, Spain

The Health Equity Research Center (HERC) had the honor to, on behalf of Iranian healthcare system, virtually attend the 44th International Hospital Federation’s (IHF) Congress which was held as ab hybrid event in Barcelona, Spain, from November 8th till 11th, 2021.

This year’s Congress, which is an annual event held by IHF every year to gather and share knowledge and experience, hosted 300 speakers from 70 different countries and more than 2000 participants (whom participated in person and virtually) during 4 days.

The Health Equity Research Center (HERC), as the only representative of Iran, presented 3 of its selected articles covering topics such as health outcomes, contextual factors impacting hospitals,  and inefficiency factors of Iranian healthcare system.

Dr. Alireza Olyaeemanesh, Head of HERC, as a guest speaker at the “Lighting Talk Session” discussed the paper titled “Identifying and prioritizing inefficiency factors in the health system of Iran” and presented the project’s findings including inefficiency roots and factors impacting the system, and the prioritization of these factors.

The other two representatives of HERC, Dr. Efat Mohamadi, faculty member, and Mr. Mohammad Mehdi Kiani, researcher, each via poster, presented the other two papers titled “Two-stage estimation of the impact of contextual variables on technical efficiency using data envelopment analysis: the case study of public hospitals in Iran” and “The relationship between producing health and contextual factors across countries: a panel data analysis” and illustrated the project’s phases, methodology, and findings.

This years Congress after a closing ceremony was concluded at November 11th.
