With cooperation and help from the National Institute for Health Research of Islamic Republic of Iran, experts from World Health Organization, national experts and researchers, Health Equity Research Center held a workshop to review ways of improving performance strategies in Iran’s health system on October 26th, 2017. The goal of the workshop as said above, was firstly to identify and address the inefficiencies in Iran’s healthcare system, secondly to discuss and analyze them in the form of group projects and thirdly to draw conclusions and solutions from the projects for the presented issues.

In the beginning of  workshop lectures were delivered on general concept of efficiency, and the importance of improving it in health system of our country by Dr. Danesh Jafari, Dr. Soukat and Dr. Olyaeimanesh.

These lectures were followed by group discussions on forms and causes of inefficiency and ways to confront it in different fields such as medicine, hospital services, human resources etc, and in the end results were presented by each group’s re-presenter and with leading from Dr. Sadiqi.
After the group project, Dr. Safi Khani demonstrated the view and approaches of the Ministry of Health and  Medical Education on the subject of improving efficiency of the system.
Also by determining the main challenges of efficiency in the  country’s healthcare system and the current knowledge gaps, a list of main priorities for research were presented by Dr. Majdzade.

This workshop was concluded by a speech from Dr. Harirchi, emphasizing the need for utilizing the findings and solutions of the discussions, and for a periodical report of advances made in achieving the goals of this workshop.
